Demo - Test Drive the System
There are many formats for distance learning online. DLE uses two basic delivery methods.

- Hybrid (blended) e-learning.
Another form of distance learning is a hybrid, blended or combined format. This type of distance learning uses the Web as a tool to deliver requirements to the learner. It allows the learner to review material, complete and submit assignments, and receive grades and feedback on the website. To facilitate this type of instructor-learner interaction, a learning delivery platform (Learning Management System or LMS) and simple authoring tool is used. This can either be synchronous (instructor and students are online at the same time) or asynchronous (students complete assignments and submit them, no need to be online at the same time as the instructor)
DLE uses the Moodle™ LMS. This is an open source e-learning software platform supported by an enormous number of users internationally. Hybrid courses are more appropriate to interactive topics, where the instructor constantly evaluates learner performance via completed assignments. College classes and high school classes are able to be placed in the on line environment using this type of learning delivery. - e-Learning.
e-Learning is self study without an instructor. e-Learning is best suited for delivery of static material where the objective is mastery of the domain of knowledge. Teaching a salesperson about a new product is a likely use for this type of linear, instructorless learning that is self directed and may contain a mastery test to verify learning.
e-Learning is dependent upon graphical presentation and the use of game type activities to engage the learner. The more engaging the learning is, the easier it is for the learner to be motivated to stay on task and succeed in mastering the presented information.
